Ann G. Graney

Hoosick Falls – Ann G. Graney, 80, of Hoosick Falls, NY, passed peacefully into her eternal life on August 11, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 10, 1932, in Hoosick Falls to Francis T. and Agnes A. (Griffin) Guiden.  She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls and attended Troy Business College.
Ann had a very active life. She started her own successful real estate business, Ann Graney Village Realty, giving a bird house to all her new home owners.  She made wedding cakes, taught skiing lessons, loved to garden and was very active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives.  An avid cook and baker, there was never a family event that did not have a multitude of fantastic desserts on hand.  She loved making special meals and crocheting afghans for her many friends and her family. Ann was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls and a long time member of the New York State Association of Realtors.
Ann was the beloved mother of sons, Paul Graney and wife Melanie of Hoosick Falls and Bill Graney and wife Ann of Craryville, NY, daughters, Patricia Ellement and husband Keith of Queensbury, NY, and Mary Suite and husband Bill of Hoosick Falls. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Ryan and Sean Graney, Matthew and wife Annie, Jonathan and wife Natalie, Kathlyn and Jeremiah Ellement, Nicholas, Rachael and husband Richard, Daniel Suite, Amy Galusha and Kimberly Cottrell, four great-grandchildren, Adeline Ellement and Michael Levy, Spencer Cottrell and Wesley Galusha, her sister, Kay McCauley and husband Lawrence of Salem, NY, and several nieces and nephews. Ann also leaves her special friends, Helen Kennedy, Helen Sweet and Nancy Taber. Her son, Robert Graney, pre-deceased her in 2000. She is also pre-deceased by a sister, Noreen Shea, and a brother, Thomas Guiden.
Funeral services were Wednesday, August 15, at 11:15 am from the Mahar Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at noon at the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to either The Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls or the Immaculate Conception Church through the funeral home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090.
