Berlin Fire Company Community Day And Toy Duck Derby

August 3, 2012 By eastwickpress

Come to the Fire House for the Berlin Fire Company Community Day BBQ, eat in or take-out, on August 11 from 10 am to 4 pm. The meal consists of ½ chicken, coleslaw, corn on the cob, dessert and soda or water. Hot dogs will be on sale all day. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Tammy at 658-2924 or Shirley at 658-2893. Come and spend at least part of your day with us! Shop a little, visit with your neighbors and friends and have us prepare your meal – enjoy our chicken barbecue. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No bicycles, skateboards or heelies are allowed. Fire Safety House Tours are available on the day of the event. Parking is available at the Mill Street Field.
Seeking Vendors
The Fire Company is seeking vendors who are interested in selling flea market items, crafts, jewelry, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Longaberger, art, birdhouses, Mary Kay, etc. – no prepared food vendors, please. All vendors must provide their own pop-up tent and/or tables for outside set up only. Interested vendors should call Tammy at 658-2924 or Shirley at 658-2893 to reserve a place now. The vendor fee is $25, which includes a ticket for a free barbecue. Cost for the barbecue alone is $10.
Toy Duck Derby
The Berlin Volunteer Fire Company invites the entire community to adopt toy duckies. Adopt a single duck for $5 or a duck pack (5 ducks) for $20. The ducks are yours to keep at the end of the race as a fun reminder of the Berlin Fire Company Community Day.
Ducks splash down at 1 pm at the Park Avenue bridge and race down river toward the finish line behind the Berlin Fire House. Once the ducks are launched, they are on their own.
Create a duck that reflects your personal style – be creative. Ducks are available that morning at the Fire House for decorating with waterproof markers. Or reserve a duck by calling Bruce at 658-2163.
Prizes will be awarded following the race.
