Geraldine Goodermote

Petersburgh – Geraldine Louise Smith Goodermote passed away peacefully August 8, 2012, at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls at the age of 88. She had lived in Petersburgh, NY, her entire life until moving to the Health Center in 2009. Geraldine was the daughter of the late William Smith and Miranda Sweet Smith of Petersburgh.
After graduating from the Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls, Geraldine attended and then worked at the Emma Willard School in Troy, NY, for a short time before deciding to devote the rest of her life working the family farm.
Geraldine was the wife of the late Calvin R. Goodermote and leaves behind her stepchildren, Marion Crandle of Dolgeville, NY, Nancy Brock and husband Lester and Arlene Brock and husband Wayne, all of Petersburgh, and many grandchildren.  She was the half-sister of the late Blanche Smith Manclow, Alice Smith Solheim and Elwin Smith.  She also leaves behind her niece, Joan M. Gross and Robert Carpenter, and her nephews, Manley Solheim and wife Susan and Jon Solheim and wife Lisa, and many others in her extended family. Her good friend, Michael Ogert, who cared for her in her last years at home, will also miss her.
Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Geraldine’s life on Thursday, August 23, at 3 pm at the First Baptist Church of Hoosick, 648 South Street, Hoosick, NY. Arrangements are under the guidance of the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home of Petersburgh.
