Hoosick Artist To Exhibit Paintings In Cambridge

August 17, 2012 By eastwickpress

“Studies and Contemplations” at the Small Gallery of the Valley Artisans Market, 25 West Main Street, Cambridge, NY, will feature oil paintings by Berta Burr of Hoosick. In this show closely related tonalities are used to create a sense of atmosphere. The goal is works that meet traditional standards and address a contemporary vision. By working in a highly resolved style Burr hopes to show her respect for both her materials and her audience.

Berta Burr’s  career began as a decorator of harpsichords made by her husband, Walter Burr. This experience gave her an insight into the materials and techniques of the 17th and 18th century, which have been a leading influence on her work. She and her husband are long time residents of Hoosick.
The public is invited to the Valley Artisans Market for an opening reception with the artist on Saturday, August 25, from 3 to 5 pm. The paintings are on view from August 24 through September 18. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 am until 5 pm and Sunday from 11 am until 5 pm.
