The Cheney Library has many new publications. Three new ones are being introduced this month.
What’s eating my flowers?! You can meet those little, crawling creatures in The Secret Lives of Backyard Bugs by Judy Burris and Wayne Richards. You will find great close-up photography and see these insects in all their life stages. This book is not just for gardeners but for all nature lovers.
If you can’t make it to Venice yourself this year, why not join Commissario Brunetti as he is trying to solve his latest case in Beastly Things. You get to know Venice as you zip around on its ‘canales.’ This is Donna Leon’s twenty-first Brunetti story, and another is due to be published in 2013.
Why Not Try A Playaway
Not heard of Playaway yet? Well, it is the simplest way to listen to an audiobook. The audiobook is already contained in a small device that weighs just 2 oz. and fits in the palm of your hand. All you need is one AAA battery and headphones, nothing else. Stop by the Library, and we will be glad to show you – it is so easy.
We have Playaway for different ages. One for our young readers/listeners to try is Elizabeth I. Here the young princess is presented as a teenager feeling lonely and overlooked by her father King Henry VIII of England. The childhood of one of the greatest monarchs is revealed in the form of a diary by Kathryn Lasky.
We will be more than happy to order any of these items for you should they not be available at the time you stop by.
