Berlin – Peter Rontey passed away on August 18, 2012, at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Born in 1952 in Hartford, CT, Peter served in the Air Force and graduated from American International College in Springfield, MA, Central Michigan University and Westfield State University in Westfield, MA. He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs as a software engineer where he pioneered the development of a workbench tool used in the health information technology standard, HL7.
Peter is survived by his wife, Linda, his son, Douglas, his wife, Jessica, his daughter, Jill and her fiancé Daniel, his three siblings, Patricia and her husband Paul, Daniel and his wife Deborah and his sister Jane, his mother-in law, Marie, his granddaughter, Madison, and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at his home on September 1 at 1 pm for family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established to build a cover over the trap field in his name at the Berlin Rod & Gun Club to acknowledge his love for nature and shooting sports. Donations may be made in Peter’s name to the Berlin Rod and Gun Club, P.O. Box 381, Berlin, NY, 12022.
