Troop 222 has just returned from a very successful week at summer camp. The Troop went to Rotary Scout Reservation in East Poestenkill where they participated in many fun scouting activities.
[private]Over the course of a week the ten boys from Troop 222 earned a total of 31 Merit badges, Two Polar Plunge certificates and one BSA one mile swim award. Some of the scouts climbed a 30 foot tower for the Climbing Merit Badge. Others earned the Shotgun Shooting Merit Badge. Some earned the Rowing, Canoeing or Kayaking Merit Badge and the Metal Working Merit Badge and yet others earned the Rifle Shooting Merit Badge. Some boys were interested in earning the Traffic Safety Merit Badge and the Safety, Fire Safety and Swimming Merit Badges. Two boys completed the Camping Merit Badge. Three new scouts in the Troop earned Trail to First Class promotion, preparing them for advancement in the Troop. All the boys seemed to have a very good time this summer and are looking forward to a great year in scouting.
Anyone interested in Scouting should contact Jim Akers at 728-0352 or stop in at one of our meetings at the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center in Petersburgh on the first and third Monday of each month, September through June, at 6:30 pm.
