Petersburgh Public Library Changes Hours

August 24, 2012 By eastwickpress

The Petersburgh Public Library Board of Trustees is pleased to announce a change in the Petersburgh Public Library hours. Starting September 1 the Library will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2 until 6 pm. The Library will be open on Wednesday from 2 until 7 pm.
The Library was under utilized by the public from 7 until 9 on Wednesday evenings and there has been an increasing need to stay open later in the day on other days. This has been shown by the number of patrons coming to the Library right before 5 pm or right after 5 and being served by Library staff volunteering to stay late to take care of the public needs. This will not necessitate an increase in the budget due to the rearranging of staff hours and the use of volunteers.
Summer Reading Program  Closes
The summer reading program has drawn to a close with 71 youths and 37 adults having signed up to participate in the programs.  There were 44 youths who completed the reading requirements with younger children reading 306 books and older youths reading 29,799 pages. Adults read 347 books and were entered into drawings for the prize baskets that were awarded at the celebration for the conclusion of the program.
Story Hour Survey
The Library is now conducting a survey on the potential for story hours for the fall. Please stop by the Library and pick up a form if you have a pre-schooler who would be interested in story hour. We are trying to determine the best day and time for story hour.
