On Tuesday, August 14, the NY State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and uniform personnel in Schodack investigated a report of a kidnapping on State Route 20 in the Town of Nassau. The investigation into the reported incident revealed that Sean W. Conklin, 24, of 14 Browns Road in Stephentown, broke into a residence on State Route 20 in Nassau at about noon on the 14th and, during a verbal altercation with his ex-girlfriend, forced her into the vehicle he was operating and headed east on State Route 20.

Conklin was arrested at the scene of the vehicle stop by Massachusetts Troopers as a fugitive from justice and transferred to the Berkshire County Correctional Facility to await extradition to New York.
Charges against Conklin include Kidnapping in the second degree, Burglary in the second degree and Criminal contempt in the first degree, all felonies. The charges were filed in the Town of Nassau Court with extradition from Massachusetts being coordinated with the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office.
The 23 year old female victim, an ex-girlfriend of Conklin’s, was unharmed during the incident and returned to her home in Nassau after providing officials with a statement.[/private]
