Basket Weaving Workshop In Grafton

September 21, 2012 By eastwickpress

The Grafton Community Library presents two Introduction to Basket Weaving workshops as part of the Grafton Community Arts Program that has been awarded grant funding from The Arts Center of the Capital Region. Students will learn basic basket-making techniques and weave a useful market basket with a wooden handle. An example of the basket is on display at the Grafton Community Library.
A choice of two class sessions is offered. The first will be held on Saturday, October 13, from 9 am to 12:30 pm, and the other is on Saturday, October 20, from 9 am to 12:30 pm at the Everett Wagar Senior Center in Grafton. Please choose one class. Class size is limited to 10 students (including children age 10 and above accompanied by an adult). Preregistration is required, along with a $5 materials fee. Sign up at the Library at 2455 NY Route 2.
Instructor Linda Dayton learned to make baskets in 1990. Since then, she has created over 300 baskets and has taught classes at area continuing education programs and at her home. Her repertoire also includes tote baskets, the Nantucket Lightship Basket and the Adirondack pack basket.
