Cabaret To Benefit The Stephentown Memorial Library

September 7, 2012 By eastwickpress

Berkshires-based cabaret performer Lisa Kantor will present “You Read Me Like a Book!” – an evening of love songs and love-gone-wrong songs at The Theater Barn in New Lebanon on Friday, September 28, to benefit the Stephentown Memorial Library. The unique fundraiser and musical program is organized by the Friends of the Library. Wine and light refreshments will be available at 7 pm, and the cabaret show follows at 8 pm. Tickets cost $45 each and are available by email at Debbie.Pentak@gmail.com or by phone at 518-733-0410 or 518-733-5750.
Lisa Kantor, also known as “Elle Kay Cabaret,” takes her audience on a journey, engaging their emotions, memories and truths.  Her songs include jazz standards, show tunes and contemporary songs.   She will be accompanied by her trio, Joe Rose (Music Director) on piano, Dave Christopolis on bass and Terry Hall on drums.
Lisa has created and performed solo cabaret shows throughout the region. She has trained with award winning cabaret artists from New York City and Boston, as well as from the Berkshires. She has recently performed at The New Stage Performing Arts Center, the Bernstein Theatre at Shakespeare and Company, Upstairs at Spice Restaurant,  Firefly Restaurant and Gateways Inn. She also performs at private events, house parties and fundraisers. In addition to her passion for cabaret performance, Lisa is a practicing psychologist in private practice in Lenox, MA.
The Stephentown Memorial Library was founded in 1947 and serves a community of 3,000 residents. Programs, including storytellers, crafts, films and seminars, run throughout the year, free of charge.  The Library provides access to resources of the Foundation Center, the national clearing house for grant funding information. The Library depends on fundraising efforts to generate 28% of its annual budget.
“You Read Me Like a Book!” promises to be a special evening of entertainment with a passionate artist, as well as a way to meet with friends and support the work of the Stephentown Memorial Library.  Reserve your tickets now.
