Hoosick Grange News

Election of officers was held at Hoosick Grange on August 22. David Cornell was Elected Master, Carleton Philpott – Overseer, Corinne Philpott – Lecturer, David Schmidt – Steward, Omer Brenenstuhl – Assistant Steward, Norma Brenenstuhl – Assistant Steward, Marion Cipperly – Chaplain, Helen Filkins – Treasurer, Martha Babbitt – Secretary, Elsie Marpe – Gatekeeper, Mary Marpe – Ceres, Marion Hynick – Pomona, Louise Slingerland –  Flora, Executive Committee – 3 Years – Omer Brenenstuhl, 2 Years – Allen Cornell, 1 Year – Marion Brenenstuhl, Flag Bearer – Marion Brenenstuhl.
After the business was finished, the Lecturer had a short program. Martha Babbitt read a funny story on school days. The Lecturer had a few humorous stories and a reading on a runaway pink truck. She had a game of popular World War II songs, and Marion Cipperly won. The Lecturer read a true story on Sir Winston Churchill and had a joke about the drunk and the baptismal. She had a closing poem – “Give Me Open Eyes” by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
The next meeting was on September 12 with Marion Hynick in charge of program. Beth Cipperly, from the Rescue Squad, was our speaker. The Refreshment Committee was Martha Babbitt. Officers were installed by Carleton Philpott, Past Deputy.
