Jerome Griffin Hunt

Averill Park/West Sand Lake – Jerome Griffin Hunt, 88, of Springer Road, West Sand Lake, NY, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Rosewood Gardens in East Greenbush, NY, after a brief  illness.
Born in Averill Park, NY, he was the son of the late Arbie J. Hunt and Marian Griffin Hunt and the husband of Edith May Face Hunt. He had resided in Averill Park all his life and attended Averill Park High School.
Mr. Hunt was the owner and operator of Ackner Hunt Sand and Gravel in Averill Park for 30 years and prior to that operated H&H Construction in Averill Park. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and the VFW in Averill Park and a member of the Grafton Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II in the Navy Seabees, stationed in the Pacific Theater.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Gary Alan Hunt and wife Beverly, West Columbia, TX, Joel Boyd Hunt and wife Judy, Stephentown, NY, and Brian Dale Hunt and wife Diane, West Sand Lake, two daughters, Dawn Marie Hunt-Bucci, West Sand Lake, and Jan Lynn Hunt and husband Henry Tanner III, West Sand Lake, 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by a son, Jerome Bruce Hunt, and three sisters, Irene Leonard, Beverly Jane Ackner and Gloria Marian Hunt.
Relatives and friends called at the West Stephentown Baptist Church in West Stephentown, NY, on Sunday, September 9, from 2 to 4 pm with a funeral service at 4 pm. Interment was in the East Nassau Rural Cemetery, East Nassau, NY.
