Maude B. Thurber

Hoosick Falls – Maude B. Thurber, 83, of Hoosick Falls, NY, died  Thursday, August 30, 2012, at her residence on Wood Park Lane. She was the wife of the late Herbert Thurber.
Born October 16, 1928, in Berlin, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Maude (Livingston) Lackey. She attended schools in Berlin. Maude liked bowling, Wii bowling, crocheting, knitting, puzzles and playing cards. She enjoyed her friends at Wood Park and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her three daughters, Ruth Metcalfe and husband Gordon, Lorraine Shiland and husband William and Stella Bierwirth, a son, Charles Thurber and wife Nancy, all of Hoosick Falls, six grandchildren, Tyler and Evan Thurber, Laurie O’Brien, Ruth Peabody, William Shiland III and Charles Shiland, and seven great-grandchildren, Sarah Burdge, Zachary Case, Jordan Case, Kendra Peabody, Preston Peabody, Ryan Philpott, William Shiland IV and Andrew Shiland. Maude leaves a special friend, Lorraine Surdam, as well as a special niece, Sally Johnston. She is pre-deceased by nine sisters, Gertrude Merritt, Mabel Durkee, Lena Miller, Mildred Michaels, Alice Deshane, Ida Crandall, Mary Durkee, Bertha Grogan and Nellie DeMars as well as a brother, William Lackey.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 3, at 10:15 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090. The Rite of Burial was  offered from All Saints Episcopal Church in Hoosick, NY, at 11 am. Burial followed the service in Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Friends called at the funeral home on Sunday, September 2, from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice through the funeral home.
