New 2 You Consignment Shop Opens In Hoosick Falls

September 21, 2012 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
Sue Lewsey said, “Ever since the Corner Closet on John Street closed years ago, I’ve wanted to see a clothing store in Hoosick Falls.” Well, she’s made it happen. Granted, it’s a consignment shop, but it’s definitely a high end shop. She has only been open a few weeks, “But the response has been wonderful,” she said. [private]She and her daughter and store/financial manager, Amanda, are now accepting fall and winter consignments.

The rate is 50/50 after an item sells. If the consigners prefer, they can have a store credit with a 60/40 rate. “We have quite a few store credits,” she said. If an item doesn’t sell within 90 days it is turned over to a local charity.
Sue said the special occasion and event dresses are very popular items. “No one wants to wear the same fancy dress a second time,” she said. “And the teens are always looking for name brand stuff,” she added. Sizes range from infant to plus sizes. The shop carries women’s and girl’s clothing, boy’s clothes up to size 12, sporting goods, jewelry, shoes, hand bags and some new items. “We went on a buying trip before we opened because we wanted our racks to be full. Actually, we didn’t have a problem filling them. We’ve gone through our stock twice already.”
Sue said, “We’re picky about what we keep. It doesn’t have to be a designer piece, but it has to be a style… there are plenty of thrift stores around.”
Spotted in the shop were several hand bags and some Vera Wang bags. “The designs change every year so why not buy one at a consignment shop.”
Sue worked in retail years ago. She and Amanda have a flair for decorating so the shop is very attractive. There are two dressing rooms and plenty of space to move around. Sue feels the shop is a great place for picking up kids clothes as they change sizes so quickly.
The store is located at 59 High Street and is open Thursdays and Fridays from 11 am to 7 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 2 pm.
