The Stephentown Food Pantry volunteers have been kept very busy lately. So far this month the pantry has provided food for 123 people, with as many as fourteen families being helped on a Saturday morning. The Stephentown Food Pantry offers short term assistance to residents of Stephentown and Hancock, MA. The pantry is open every Saturday morning, weather permitting, from 9 to 11 am at the Stephentown Federated Church, Garfield Road (County Route 26). Appointments are not needed. As always, requests for help are confidential. For information, call 518-733-5923 or 733-5675.
The pantry relies on community support. It is a member of the Regional Food Bank of Northeast New York and can obtain food there very economically, so donations are used to maximum effect.
This volunteer group has been serving the community since 1983. If you wish to donate money to help fund the pantry, you may send checks to the Stephentown Food Pantry Treasurer at P. O. Box 387, Stephentown, NY, 12168. If you prefer to donate nonperishable grocery items, there is a collection basket at the Stephentown Memorial Library, or food can be delivered to the Federated Church on Saturday mornings during pantry hours. Some of the items constantly needed are canned fruits, tuna, and coffee.
