Environment, Health And Safety Day At Saint-Gobain

October 5, 2012 By eastwickpress

In celebration of its ongoing, core commitment to the preservation of the global and local environment and its determination to contribute to the continual improvement of the working conditions and well being of its employees, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has planned an information and fun-filled day stressing that “Safety Starts at Home.”
The day begins at 8 am on Thursday, October 11, with the reading of the company-wide “EHS Letter of Commitment” and “Our Life Saving Rules,” a video created for the occasion, both introduced by SGPPL Business Manager, Philip Guy. Working colleagues come together as a family throughout the day to volunteer, share safety tips presented by leading authorities, enjoy a sizzling barbecue by NY favorite, Giffy’s Bar-B-Q, and jump feet first into some engaging EHS-focused activities.
In a challenging economy, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics is especially proud to be able to thrive and provide continuity and pride of work to its local workforce – many of whom have been with the Hoosick Falls company throughout their careers, often working alongside family and friends. “The idea we want to convey through engagement and fun on EHS Day is our concern for our employees’ welfare whether at work or at home,” said Plant Business Manager, Philip Guy. “We are looking forward to learning together from the experts on first-aid, good nutrition, emergency training, green living and more.”
Several volunteer fire-fighters will lead participants in the do’s and don’ts of effective use of fire extinguishers. Human Resource pros will share tips on good nutrition and sleep safety. There will be visiting experts from recognized health and safety organizations during the event.
