Grafton Lakes State Park October Events

• Wednesdays, October 17, 24 and 31 at 4 pm – Wandering Wednesdays with Friends member Dorothy Surprise.  Come explore the Park and see the fall foliage. To register visit www.meetup.com/friendsofgraftonlakesstatepark.
• Saturday, October 13 – Treasure Hunt at  1 pm. Learn how to use an orienteering map and compass to track down treasures in the Park. This is a fun family activity – a one mile treasure hunt trek. Space is limited so please pre-register by calling 279-1155. The  fee is $2 per person or $5 per family. The group will meet at the amphitheater.
• Wednesday, October 17 – Trail Advisory Meeting at 7 pm.  How do we make our trail system even better? Come share your ideas. Meet at the Park Office.
• Friday, October 19 – Star Watch at 7 pm.  Join the Albany Area Amateur Astronomers for a free tour of the night sky; telescopes will be provided.  Weather may postpone to Saturday so call Bernard at 658-9144 to confirm. Come in by the Park’s winter entrance.
• Saturday, October 20 – Cemetery Walk at 4 pm. Join us for a walk through the lives and deaths of past Grafton residents now in our cemeteries. Tour several of the cemeteries found in the Park and hear tales of the people in them as well as what is being done to restore the stones. There will also be a ghost story or two! The fee is $2 per person. Call Stephanie for more information and to pre-register at 279-1155.
• Saturday, October 27 – Trick or Treat Trail from 5 to 7 pm. Follow a trail lit by jack-o-lanterns to find some treasure and meet some animals of the forests and ponds. This is a fun family event for younger children up to ten years old. The fee is $3 per person or $10 per family of four or more.  Pre-register for a time slot – this program fills up early!  Families with the youngest children are given preference for the first hour of the program, during daylight. The group meets at Shaver Pond Center, 194 Shaver Pond Road in Grafton.
