Hoosick Republicans Nominate Louis Schmigel For Highway Superintendent

October 5, 2012 By eastwickpress

release from the Hoosick Republican Committee
The Town of Hoosick Republican Committee held a caucus in September for the purpose of nominating a candidate to run for the unexpired term of Superintendent of Highways. This office became vacant following the retirement of Bill Shiland Jr. in August. Louis Schmigel, a registered Independent, was nominated to run as Superintendent of Highways at the caucus.
[private]Schmigel, currently a Town Councilman, owns and manages his own excavating business, Schmigel Excavating. He worked alongside his grandfather, Alex Schmigel, for several years. He learned what it takes to make a business successful and profitable. Later, the business was turned over to Louis, and he has kept that business running with much success, despite the hard economic times we all face.
Schmigel has the skills and knowledge needed to manage the roads and highways we drive. When elected, Schmigel has pledged to work full time, along-side highway employees, to make sure the roads we drive on are safe and always maintained.
Schmigel also knows and understands the Town budget. He knows the importance of staying within a budget to make sure taxpayers are not burdened with additional taxes. He has successfully looked out for the taxpayers as Town Councilman and will continue to work for the residents as Highway Superintendent.
Therefore, it was a unanimous decision by all Republicans attending the caucus to run Louis Schmigel as Highway Superintendent based on his skills, knowledge and experience. He has proven himself as a businessman and as an elected official. Schmigel will continue to be dedicated and devoted to the Town.
With the Republican line, Schmigel has also been endorsed to run on the Independence and Conservative lines.[/private]
