Hurford W. Barden

West Lebanon – Hurford W. Barden, 86, of Winslow Road, West Lebanon, NY, died on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA.
Born October 8, 1925, in Chatham, NY, he was the son of the late Harrison and Ellen Wilson Barden. A lifelong resident of the Chatham/New Lebanon area Mr. Barden was baptized in the New Lebanon Congregational Church and attended East Chatham school.He worked for various contractors in his early years before working for Consolidated Railroad (Conrail) as a trackman for 17 years. Mr. Barden loved to socialize, share a beer with friends, do puzzles and read. He is pre-deceased by three siblings, Theodora A. Miller, Barbara Comito and Lee Barden.
Survivors include his best friend and adopted daughter, Leslie Taylor, with whom he resided, his nieces and nephews, Kenneth Smith, Linda A. Allen, Sandra Simpson, Tom Comito, Mary Ellen Barden and Tina Nunn along with many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Cremation will be at the Mt. Anthony Crematory in Bennington, VT, with no formal services or calling hours. Burial will be at a later date. To remember Mr. Barden in a special way, memorial contributions to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the guidance of Hall & Higgins Funeral Home of Stephentown, NY.
