James W. North Jr.

Hoosick – James W. North Jr., 75, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. He had resided on NY Rt. 7, in Hoosick, NY, with his wife Carolyn (Zwiercan) North.
Born on February 23, 1937, in Bennington, James was the son of the late James W. and Delores (Morey) North Sr. He was educated in the one room schoolhouse in Potter Hill, Hoosick, and at Walter A. Wood High School in Hoosick Falls, NY. James was the proud owner of North’s Garage on Rt. 7 in Potter Hill. He was a member of the National Guard. James liked farming, working on tractors, hunting, trapping, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Eagles in Hoosick Falls. James was always a loving, supportive family man, a very proud husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors, other than his wife Carolyn, include his daughters, Lisa North, Lynn  Richard and husband Robert Richard Jr. and Leah North, his sister, Alice Towne, his brothers, Richard “Skip” North, Leon “Bert” North and Jeffrey Kulas, five grandchildren, Elise North-Kirkman, Robert Richard III, Samuel Richard, Thomas Richard and Alivia Richard, a special niece, Melissa Colvin, and a large extended family. James is pre-deceased by a sister, Mary Thomas, and a brother, Thomas North.
Funeral services were on Wednesday, October 3, at 11 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090. Burial followed the service at the Hoosick Rural Cemetery, Hoosick. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen McGovern Memorial Fund through the funeral home.
