Panthers Pound Corinth 47 – 0

October 12, 2012 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley
Last Friday under the HFCS lights, the Panthers took on the Corinth Tomahawks. It didn’t take long to see where this game was headed. The Corinth team appeared intimidated from the kickoff, and they never got anything going to bring up their confidence level. The Panthers struck with four minutes gone when Brad Burns scored on a 16 yard run and from then on everything went the Panthers’ way.  Hoosick Falls led 40 – 0 at the half. The JV team got plenty of experience as they played most of the second half.

Quarterback Billy Pine threw three TD passes, going 7 for 9 for 208 yards. Receiver Randy Tutunjian had 2 second quarter TD receptions of 37 and 49 yards, rolling up 141 receiving yards on 8 receptions.
On defense, Brandon Hodges had six tackles and was named the Max Preps Defensive Player of the Game. Also putting six tackles in the books were Mike Mattat, Bryan Sherman and David Hardesty. Brad Burns and Ryan Perkins each picked off a pass. Damon Dubois and Eric Kaufmann went a combined 5 for 7 on extra point kicks.
On Friday, October 12, the Panthers (6-0) will travel to Brunswick to face the Tamarac Bengals (4-2). The game will be played at Tamarac High School. Game time is 7 pm. Bring your woollies; temperatures are forecast to be in the thirties.

Brad Burns, center, with dad Jon and mom Sue, set a new all time HFCS rushing record last Friday night. The record he bested was established by his brother, Jon, during the 2003 - 06 seasons. Brad set the record on his second carry of the night and went on to carry seven times for 127 yards. This gave him 3,263 rushing yards for his Panther career with at least two games to go. Congratulations, Brad. Photo by Steve Bradley.
