On display at the Petersburgh Library though November is the artwork of Erik Kjell Smits. There will be a reception on Saturday, November 3 from 11 until noon when Erik will be at the Library to meet the public and discuss his art. Everyone is invited to come to the Library and enjoy the photographs on display. The display is Kjell’s Views: Erik Kjell Smits. Erik began taking pictures at age two, while living in Petersburgh. He has always had an excellent eye for texture, reflections and color and an amazing sense of composition – none of the prints on display in the Petersburgh Library have been cropped.
His favorite subjects reside in nature, though he also likes patterns in built forms.
Erik is now 10 years old and lives in Albany with his mom, dad, four cats, a dog and a bearded dragon. He attends Woodland Hill Montessori school and loves to rip-stick and kayak.
He got the idea for taking pictures because he liked the way the camera worked. He currently uses a Canon point n shoot digital, relying on his ability to frame a shot and capture patterns and color.
