Petersburgh – Ronald L. Brock, 70, of Potter Hill Road, Petersburgh, NY, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY, after an extended illness.
Born in Petersburgh on February 1, 1942, he was the son of Elizabeth May Wescott Brock of Walloomsac, NY, and the late Lester Elwin Brock, Sr. He was the loving husband of the late Thelma A. Knuetter Brock, who died on June 21, 1997. They were married in Grafton, NY, on March 19, 1965.
A lifelong resident of Petersburgh, Mr. Brock attended the one room schoolhouse in Petersburgh and the Grafton Baptist Church. In his early years he worked for Lawrence Church as a logger. He then became employed by the New York State Canal Dept. (now the Thruway Authority) working on the Erie Canal. He retired in 1996 after 31 years of service. He was a member of both the Petersburgh and Berlin Rod and Gun Club. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and, in these later years, socializing with family and friends.
Survivors, besides his mother, include his children, Jenine R. and husband Jason Morgan of Waynesville, MO, and Ronald E. and wife Billie Jo Brock and Karl D. and wife Lottie M. Brock, all of Berlin, NY, his siblings, Jerome and wife Cindy Brock of Hoosick Falls, NY, Gerald Brock of Walloomsac, Allan and wife Desiree Brock of Buskirk, NY, Kathleen Arasim of Hoosick Falls, Carol, wife of the late Harold Delille, of Ft. Mead, FL, and Lester E. and wife Nancy Brock Jr. of Petersburgh, his grandchildren, Karl Jr., Tonya, Amanda, Taylor, Josh and Dominic, and his great-granddaughter, Maya, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. He is pre-deceased by a sister, Susan Brock.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 2 pm in the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh, with Rev. Jason White, Pastor of the Grafton Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow next to his loving wife in the Berlin Community Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home for visitation on Saturday starting at noon until the start of the service.
