More than 125 people gathered outside St. Mark’s Church in Hoosick Falls on Sunday to participate in the HAYC3 third annual Suicide Prevention Walk. Many people, affected by the loss of a loved one through suicide, signed prayer flags and hung them on lines strung in front of the Church. Others placed names on luminaries commemorating lost friends or family. The Immaculate Conception Church bell tolled as the walk began down Main Street to John Street, then Church Street to the point and back up Main Street. [private]The men of St. Mark’s served dinner to the walkers afterwards, and several people spent time in the Church sharing their thoughts and grief with others. Suicide is the third leading cause of teen deaths and number ten overall.
