Troop 222 just attended the BSA Twin Rivers Council Fall Camporee at the Saratoga Spa State Park September 28-30. The boys competed in a decathlon of events that build character, team work and Scout skills.
The troop camped in the Park Friday through Sunday in their new six man tents at the Ferndell day use area for the Mahikan District. [private]Some of the activities that were available to the scouts were fire building, archery, BB gun shooting, C.O.P.E., team building, metal work/forging demo, first aid, a dutch oven dessert cooking competition and a bonfire sing-a-long.

Along with all the activities that the Troop participated in there was plenty of time for sightseeing of the geysers, free time to relax or play cards and to explore the Park.
The Troop had some great success in the Dutch oven dessert cook-off. Two entries from Troop 222 were entered in the Mahikan district portion of the competition – one chocolate cake and one apple upside down pie. The judges picked Troop 222 as the Mahikan district winner in the desert competition. The scouts also set their own tents, planned their food menu, cooked their own meals and cleaned up afterwords.
Contact Jim Akers, troop 222’s Scoutmaster, if you are interested in Boy Scouts and are between 11 and 17 years old at 728-0352.
