Cherry Plain Cell Tower – Can You Hear Me Now?

November 9, 2012 By eastwickpress

by David Flint
Two and a half years after the Berlin Zoning Board cleared the way for a cell tower in Cherry Plain residents and travelers are finally getting a signal from that tower. The tower remained bereft of any antenna for a year and a half until Verizon finally installed their equipment this past summer. Chris Ciolfi of Mariner Towers LLC, who put the structure up back in late 2010, said he had heard that Verizon had recently activated their antenna. He did not know why it took so long, but he believed that cell phone reception along the Route 22 corridor should now be “dramatically improved.”
[private]Town Supervisor Rob Jaeger noting that the power was turned on on Monday, October 29, just in time for Hurricane Sandy, said, “I’m very happy it’s finally up and running.”

The long awaited activation of the Cherry Plain cell tower occurred last week. (David Flint photo)
