The Fall-In @ the Armory day, sponsored by HAYC3, was touted as “a community gathering and celebration of the season.” Fortunately, the weather was very pleasant on Saturday, October 27. There was fun outside and inside the Armory. The Hoosick Community Band played. There was cider making and marshmallow toasting, floating luminaries late in the day and a delicious Sweet and Eat dessert bake off. Winners in the bake off were Lisa Shaw’s “Sofafia Cheesecake,” first place, Brunswick Center’s “Applesauce,” second and a tie for third between Carrie Bisnet’s “Pumpkin Whoopie Pies” and Jen Contessa’s “Better than Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.”
The event was a pay what you could, with jars strategically placed everywhere. The proceeds benefitted the Thayne family, which is dealing with considerable medical expenses. Though the crowd was not large for the Texas Hold’em, the generosity of the players was appreciated by the sponsors.
