by David Flint
A fatal accident occurred in the Town of Berlin early Tuesday morning as the effects of Hurricane Sandy were beginning to subside here. According to State Police Public Information Officer Mark Cepiel, there is no indication at this time that the accident was weather related. [private]He said that a local resident at 8:45 am on Tuesday discovered a 1988 Dodge pickup truck resting in the Little Hoosick River in Center Berlin. State Police from Sand Lake investigated and determined that Shawn Stryker, 25 of Stephentown had been traveling southbound sometime around 2 am on Route 22 when his vehicle apparently veered off of the left shoulder and went 200 feet before hitting a tree and ending up in a foot of water in the river. There were no other occupants in the truck. Stryker was pronounced dead at the scene. Cepiel said that the investigation is continuing.[/private]
