HFCS Honor Society Inducts 26 New Members

On Tuesday, November 13, the Hoosick Falls Central School Philip Leonard Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 26 new members.
Current Members
The Society’s members before the induction included: Secretary Julia Baker, Brad Burns, Katherine Danforth, Grace Delurey, Historian Molly Fleming, Treasurer Alice Hayden, Frankie Pearson, Vice-President Mary Peters, Evan Phillips and President Jason Woods. Co-Advisors are Mrs. Theselia Nielsen and Miss Isabel McGuire.
[private]The ceremony began with Brad Burns leading the Pledge of Allegiance followed by an outstanding rendition of John Williams’ The Symphonic March played by the Symphonic Band, directed by Mr. Robert Allen.
Evan Phillips introduced the program. Mary Peters read the Honor Society Requirements. Grace Delurey explained the Emblem and Katherine Danforth, Julia Baker, Frankie Pearson and Alice Hayden each described one of the four precepts of the Society, Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service, and then lit a candle for each.
As the Band played, the new members were tapped and brought to the stage and robed in blue gowns. Jason Woods led the members in the National Honor Society Pledge and high school principal Mrs. Stacey Vadney accepted the new members.
Prendergast Recognized

Society Members Molly Fleming, Frankie Pearson and Katherine Danforth described the comments and attributes that made the Society select Social Studies teacher James Prendergast for recognition. This is the third time he has been so honored. He thanked the Society for the honor and commended them for their hard work and recognized the three sports teams for their success.
Miss McGuire presented the Jeffrey Stratton Memorial Award to Frankie Pearson.
Candlelight

Current Honor Society members lit their candles from the candles representing Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service and then lit the candles of the new members. (Bea Peterson photo)

This portion of the program concluded with the current members lighting a candle for each of the new members and all of them leaving the auditorium with a lighted candle in hand.
After dessert the new members were presented the certificates of membership.

Seniors Molly Frazier, Kassidy Hitt and Haley Votra and Juniors Levi Brewster, Lydia Casavant, Hannah Fricke, Paige Graney, Zoey Haar, Katelyn Harrison, Holly Hastings, Mollie Henry, Lexi Hoag, McKayla Hogan, Reilly Holbritter, Alex LaBarge, Samantha Lancour, Hannah Lilac, Justin Lynch, Megan Mahar, Dana O’Malley, Drew Phillips, Mattie Whitman, Emily Shultz, Luis Weierbach, Carsen Williams and Jing Yang.
