Hoosick Planning Board Action

November 21, 2012 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson
The first to appear before the Planning Board at its Monday, November 19, meeting was Kendal Baker. He was representing the Nelson family that has a farm on Pine Valley Road. This was an initial conference. The Nelsons wish to divide the 365 acre property into three parcels for a simple subdivision. The first parcel would consist of the main farmhouse and barns and cleared land of approximately 171 acres. The second parcel would consist of a small bungalow with 167 acres and the third parcel would be a 27 acre wooded lot. Baker explained that parcel two contains a spring that would require a water easement. Baker will return to the Board next month with the property survey.
Cell Tower Improvements
Michael Cusack of Verizon Wireless approached the Board about upgrading the three cell towers in Hoosick before the end of the year. Verizon rents space on the towers on LeBarron Road and on Wilson Hill Road. It owns the tree tower on South Street. A few changes are needed to the South Street tower. There was discussion regarding the other two towers and a new Federal law regarding cell towers. The Board approved a motion to hire engineer Russ Reeves to review Verizon’s plans and give a report to the Board. Once that report is approved, the project will be turned over to the Building Inspector. Verizon will pay the engineering study costs.
Wayne Wilson addressed the Board on behalf of Tim and Carrie Cahill regarding cutting 12 acres from the junk yard property on Route 7. This was a preliminary conference. Wilson will appear before the Board again next month.
Board Chairman Jim Dunigan recused himself from the Board  to ask a question regarding 100 plus acres of his Brimmer Farm property. He would like to divide the property. As the property has been previously divided, to do so again would constitute a major subdivision. Next month he will have a completed survey of the property to discuss the matter further. At this point, Dunigan said, he was only looking for opinions.
The Board will meet next on Monday, December 17, at 7:30 pm.
