Hoosick/Petersburgh – Mr. Karl Christensen, 83, a resident of Whitney Lane, Wilmington, VT, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 3, 2012. Born in Hoosick, NY, on December 27, 1928, Karl was the son of Amdi and Edna (Eagle) Christensen. He attended Hoosick Falls Schools.
Karl entered the US Air Force in 1949, during the Korean War. While on leave from the military, he was injured in a motorcycle accident. This became a permanent disability which caused him to retire from the Air Force on February 29, 1952, with the rank of Corporal. Karl worked as an auto mechanic and later became a licensed electrician working in his own business and for Tri-State Electric of Troy, NY. He resided in Petersburgh, NY, for many years.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid trap shooter who was very accomplished and won several events. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his wife Geraldine in their camper; they visited almost every state. He was a member of the Nelson E. Pickwell American Legion Post 15, ATA Trap Shooting and Ducks Unlimited.
Karl was first married to Gail Arnold in 1954; they divorced in 1965. After many years of being friends with Geraldine (Dunn) Boyd they married on February 14, 1990, and spent 30 years living in St. Petersburg, FL, before moving to Wilmington two years ago.
In addition to his wife, Geraldine, he leaves his sons, Charles and wife Gale Christensen of Auburn, NH, and Carl and wife Judy Christensen of Petersburgh, his daughter, Patricia and husband Dave Butler of Savanah, GA, his step-son, Randall Boyd of Wilmington, his step-daughters, Pamela and husband Clark Parris of Halifax and Lynn and husband Alan Davis of Wilmington, his brother, Andy and wife Joyce Christensen of Rochester, NY, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is pre-deceased by two step-grandchildren, Eric Davis and Crystal Wendell, and a step-daughter-in-law, Teresa Boyd.
At Karl’s request there will be no service.
