Mary Fitzpatrick

November 9, 2012 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Falls – Mary Elizabeth (Greenwood) Fitzpatrick, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving and ever-present family on November 6, 2012, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT. She has joined her husband on what would have been his 92nd birthday.
Born on May 21, 1924, in Hoosick Falls, she was the daughter of the late William Greenwood, Sr. and Louise (Boylan) Greenwood and the step-daughter of the late Anne O’Neil Greenwood. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Robert E. Fitzpatrick, whom she married on November 28, 1946, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.
A lifelong resident of Hoosick Falls, Mary attended St. Mary’s Academy and was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. She was a wonderful loving mother and homemaker. Mary also worked at the Hoosick Falls Health Center and the Hoosick Falls Country Club in housekeeping.
Mary enjoyed a good game of SkipBo and loved her shopping adventures to Bennington with her sister Didi, topped off with a slice of pizza from their favorite pizza place. She also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, NACSAR racing, telling “her stories” and country music/dancing, and you could often find her listening to her favorite radio stations.
Anyone who knew Mary would tell you she was a beautiful well-dressed woman. She would never leave the house without her hair being just right, jewelry to match her ensemble and smelling so lovely. She sure did love her perfumes, bubble baths and lotions. Her greatest joy was her family and watching her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children, William Fitzpatrick and wife Diane of East Hoosick, NY, Gary Fitzpatrick and wife Suzanne, Robert Fitzpatrick and wife Donna and Susan Urbon and husband Stan, all of Hoosick Falls, her sisters Rita Greenwood of Hoosick Falls and Kathleen Hauser of Shaftsbury, VT, her grandchildren, Liane and husband Matthew Colby of Lake Placid, NY, William and wife Rhiannon Fitzpatrick of Albany, NY, Mark and wife Katie Fitzpatrick of Syracuse, NY, Brian and wife Kristina Fitzpatrick of Bordentown, NJ, Jason and wife Dori Fitzpatrick of Saratoga, NY, Michael and Daniel Urbon of Hoosick Falls, Jason and wife Victoria Hagadorn of Cambridge, NY, Ron and wife Brionne Hall of North Hoosick, NY, and Leigh Anne and husband Jason Parks of Bennington, VT, her great-grandchildren, Anna and Livia Fitzpatrick, Addisyn Colby, Claire Fitzpatrick, Brynn and Wyatt Hall, Cameron and Audrey Parks and Ashley Conklin. Mary is pre-deceased by her siblings, Agnes Marcoux, Helen McMillan, William Greenwood, Lillian Greenwood and Ron Greenwood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, November 12, at 10 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090, on Sunday from 2 to 6 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Mary’s Academy or the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
Following the committal service at St. Mary’s Cemetery the family would like to invite everyone to the Hoosick Falls Country Club for a buffet luncheon.
