Nancy A. McCabe

Hoosick Falls – Nancy A. McCabe, 77, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. She had resided on Elm Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, and was the wife of the late Loren E. McCabe, who died in 1993.
Born on March 7, 1935, in Hoosick Falls, Nancy was the daughter of the late Edwin and Florence (Callahan) Webster. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1952. Nancy was formerly employed at Isola Industries in Hoosick Falls, Hemmings Motor News in Bennington and, currently, at HAYC3 in Hoosick Falls. She enjoyed annual vacations to York Beach with her family.
Nancy was very active in the community, helping her husband run the family store on High Street, McCabe’s General Store, from 1963 to 1975. She was a member of the U.S. Bowling Congress at the Barbecue Recreation Lanes for thirty years and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W., Derby Club, Miller Hose Company (Hoosick Falls Fire Department), St. Stanislaw Society, Hoosick Area Senior Citizens and the Maple Grove Cemetery Board, all in Hoosick Falls. She was also a National Cancer Coalition Volunteer.
Survivors include her daughters, Laurie Garippa and husband Steve of Midlothian, TX, and Susan Matatt and husband Michael of Hoosick Falls, her sons, Donald McCabe and wife Lisa and David McCabe, all of Hoosick Falls, Douglas McCabe and wife Tina of Saranac Lake, NY, her sister, Patricia LeBarron and husband Donald of Corpus Christi, TX, her brothers, Walter Webster and wife Nancy of Eagle Mills, NY, John Webster and wife Barb of South Glens Falls, NY, and E. Thomas Webster and wife Mary of Hoosick Falls. Nancy is also survived by Aunt Sally Webster of Hoosick Falls, her grandchildren, Christian Garippa and wife Allison, Timothy Garippa, Krista Matatt, Kaila Matatt, Michael Matatt, Michael McCabe, Jonathan McCabe and Nicholas McCabe, her great-grandchild, Adelyn Garippa, and several nieces and nephews.  Nancy is pre-deceased by a grandson, Loren Raymond McCabe.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Monday, November 26, at 11 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the Mass at Maple Grove Cemetery, Hoosick.
Relatives and friends called at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090, on Sunday, November 25, from 3 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either HAYC3 or the Hoosick Falls Fire Department through the funeral home.
