The Hoosick Township Historical Society is releasing its 32 page book on November 2. The title of this year’s book is Hoosick Falls 125th Anniversary August 12 – 17 1952 The Largest and most Successful Local Celebration. This book recalls the “Brothers of the Brush” and the “Sisters of the Swish.” Men were required to have facial hair and women were required to give up cosmetics. Many individual pictures of the men and women who took place in the celebration are included in the book. The entire book contains pictures of the celebration as well as a narrative following each day’s agenda. Daily over 10,000 people watched the three days of parades. The mayors of Troy and Albany participated at the honoring of Forrest Willis. The Troy Mayor rode the Uncle Sam float entered by the city of Troy. The book will be sold at Thorpe’s and Parisi Designs (formally Upsy Daisy). This book will make a wonderful gift.
