The Cantering Cowpokes 4-H Club At The Track

November 9, 2012 By eastwickpress

submitted by Emma Woolley
The Cantering Cowpokes 4-H club had a great time Saturday, October 27, at the Saratoga’s 4-H Day at the Track. The three members who attended were Emma Woolley, Sarah French and Christina Shupe.  [private]Their day started out touring the backstretch at the raceway. They saw horses warming up and even got to feed them treats!

The members then got to visit the Harness Track Museum and Hall of Fame before going to see a training and breeding facility.  After relaxing for two hours, the members learned how to read a racing program and tested their skills watching the evening races. They also got their picture taken in the winners circle with the winning horse and drivers of the designated 4-H race.

The day was made possible by a grant from the Cornell Cooperative Extension.
