Both Dollar Stores To Open Soon In Hoosick

December 7, 2012 By eastwickpress

Dollar General Hiring

by Bea Peterson
Workers at the Dollar General and Family Dollar stores now under construction on Route 22 in Hoosick had little to say about when the stores will be opened. Bruce, at the Dollar General site, said they anticipate turning the building over to the owners on January 1, 2013. Crystal W. Ghassemi, Public Relations Manager for Dollar General Corporation in Goodlettsville, TN, emailed that the store is slated to open after the first of the year, noting that they don’t have a specific Grand Opening date since construction progress often affects those plans.
[private]She further added, “When choosing a new location for Dollar General stores, we determine how we can best meet our customers’ needs by providing an easy and convenient shopping choice. We also look at demographic trends, competitive factors and traffic patterns when choosing new locations. This new location was a perfect fit for Dollar General. Similarly, we base our merchandise selection, which includes a large number of brand name and private label products, on the households in which we serve.”
In response to a question about hiring, Ghassemi replied, “As for hiring, the typical Dollar General store employs six to 10 people depending on need. Anyone interested should apply online at www.dollargeneral.com.”

A similar request was emailed to Family Dollar, but no response was received by press time.
Crews at both stores appear to be going full speed ahead. At the Family Dollar site, near the former Baker’s nursery, landscaping and blacktop are complete. There is still work to be done on the outside of the building before crews head inside.
At Dollar General, the site of the former ERC Warehouse, they were putting in curbing on Wednesday. Blacktopping and landscaping will be done next week. Most of the outside work on the building is completed and crews are already working inside.
To the casual observer, at this point, it appears both stores will open near the same time.
