Darrow School Open House

January 18, 2013 By eastwickpress

The Darrow School Admissions Office will host Open House sessions on Monday, January 21, and Monday, February 18. Open House events are free to the public, and interested participants may drop in during the day at their convenience, between 9 am and 3 pm, although advance registration is encouraged. Events may include classroom visits, lunch with students and teachers, Q&A with current students and tours of Darrow’s facilities and historic Shaker campus.
Tour highlights will include:
• Student exhibits in Darrow’s state of the art, 12,000 square foot Joline Arts Center;
• The Living Machine, the only secondary school, all natural, wastewater treatment facility in the nation;
• The Samson Environmental Center, an example of green building technology that has been chosen for six consecutive years as a stop on the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association’s National Solar Tour;
• The innovative Sustainability Program, which is incorporated across the curriculum, and
• Darrow’s Tutorial Program offering individualized, one on one, academic and skills based support.
“The parents of many of our students find that Darrow is an excellent choice for families who are seeking a much more personal learning experience, delivered in a close knit and caring community,” said Jamie Hicks-Furgang, Director of Admissions. “Darrow offers a hands-on learning approach with an emphasis on critical thinking. We have a superb tutorial program, a four to one student to teacher ratio and a focus on sustainability that sets this school apart from other private schools.”
To register for an Open House, send an email to admission@darrowschool.org or call 518-794-6006. For those who are unable to attend an Open House but who would like to experience the Darrow community firsthand, the School welcomes visits throughout the year.
