Stephentown Food Pantry Distributed 47 Christmas Dinners

January 4, 2013 By eastwickpress

by Freling Smith
Christmas dinner bundles were prepared for 47 families served by the Stephentown Food Pantry. The Stephentown Food Pantry volunteers assembled the finished packages with help from the Girl Scouts and many donations from businesses and the community.  The festive and re-useable bags were provided, for the second year, by Blue Q.
[private]Many volunteers and donors made this project possible, especially the Stephentown Seniors, the Stephentown Girl Scouts, Hannaford of West Sand Lake, Bartlett’s Orchards, Blue Q, Stop & Shop and our host, the Stephentown Federated Church.
The holiday food packages are in addition to the regular week by week mission of the Pantry, providing food assistance to needy families in Stephentown and Hancock. Usage has increased 34% since 2011, and food is needed throughout the year.
If you wish to donate money to the Pantry, please send your donation to the Stephentown Food Pantry, P.O. Box 387, Stephentown, NY, 12168. If you prefer to give food items, there is a collection basket in the lobby of the Stephentown Memorial Library, or food can be delivered on Saturday mornings between 9 and 11 am to the Federated Church on Garfield Road.  Please check all package dates to make sure the food has not exceeded the expiration date.
