January 25, 2013 By eastwickpress

Civil War researcher Lance Ingmire will give an illustrated talk entitled “The Funeral of Abraham Lincoln as seen through the camera lens of F. W. Ingmire,” at the Stephentown Historical Society meeting on Monday, February 4, at 7:30 pm. The meeting will be at the Stephentown Heritage Center on Garfield Road, Stephentown. It is free and open to the public. The building is handicapped accessible. For directions or information, phone 518-733-0010.
Lance Ingmire is President of the NYS Military Museum, Past President of the Friends of US Grant Cottage and NYS Chair of the Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee. He teaches and demonstrates the Civil War era. He is also the organizer of the Saratoga Springs Civil War Living History Encampment and speaks on Civil War research.
This talk is a tale of one man’s obsessive research on the Ingmire family of England and Albany and his family’s connection to our greatest President. Lance Ingmire will explain his research techniques and the long trail he took to uncover the numerous interesting Albany connections to our 19th century history. Many of his ancestors’ photographs which will be displayed have not seen the light of day for nearly 150 years. This talk will be a once in a lifetime chance to witness history unfold before your eyes while the tale of a family history is explained.
He will also show some artifacts from the Civil War period.
