Vincent Conway

Hoosick – Vincent “Butch” Conway, 82, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls, NY. He had resided in North Hoosick, NY, with his wife Louise (French) Conway to whom he was married for sixty years.
Born on December 14, 1930, in Greenfield, MA, Butch was the son of the late Peter V. and Gladys (Graves) Conway. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Hoosick Falls. Butch worked as a butcher at the Grand Union for forty years; he also owned and operated a local fish market and processed deer for thirty years. He was a Jack of all trades. He enjoyed helping people, fishing trips to Ontario and being at the North Hoosick Fire House, where he was a member of the Fire Police for eighteen years. Butch was also a member of the National Guard for eleven years, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant, and he was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls.
Survivors, other than his wife Louise, include his sons, Joseph Conway and his wife Jane of Pownal, VT, and Vincent Conway and his wife Diane and James Conway and his wife Patty, all of Hoosick Falls, four grandchildren, Joel Conway, Megan Conway, John Conway and Heather (Conway) Stickney, as well as four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by two sisters, Margaret “Peg” Shiland and Kathleen “Kacky” O’Neil, and a brother, Michael Conway.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Thursday, January 3, at 10 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.
Relatives and friends called at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090, on Wednesday, January 2, from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either the North Hoosick Fire Department or the Karen McGovern Memorial Fund through the funeral home.
