Boy Scout Troop 222 Brave Cold In The Klondike Derby And Freeze Out 2013

February 1, 2013 By eastwickpress

submitted by Andrew Zlotnick
Ten Scouts  from Troop 222 set out in two sleds on January 26 at the Rotary Scout Reservation located in Poestenkill in temps hovering around 8°F all day. The Scouts tested their scouting skills against other troops in the Mahakin District of the Twin Rivers Council of the BSA in winter team building activities. [private]The scouts had to pull a home made sled around a course that takes them to different stations that require all their scouting skills to be used. The light snow that fell on Friday made the course fast for the sleds that morning.  The cold temps were a challenge all day, but the scouts were prepared for the cold and dressed in many layers.
Plaques were handed out for the first  and second place winners, and the troop will display them at the PVMCC the charter organization for Troop 222. New Scouts are always welcome to attend our meetings which are usually held on the first and third Mondays of the Month at the PVMCC Hall at 6:30 pm.
