The HFCS Drama Club is busy preparing for next week’s opening of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” a fantastic, funny and heartwarming tale for the whole family. And as in the past, the admission is free. The show will be performed on March 22 and 23 at 7 pm and March 24 at 2 pm.

This production will be one of the biggest the Drama Club has put on in several years. Not only does the cast and crew number over 70 students, including several outstanding elementary students, but the show will also showcase a phenomenal live pit orchestra made up of talented community members, HFCS teachers and even some HFCS students. Whether it is the show-stopping “Be Our Guest” dance number or the beautiful “Beauty and the Beast” song, the performances promise to be laugh-filled, heartfelt and very memorable.
Based on the famous 1991 Academy Award winning film, the story follows Belle, a girl who is dissatisfied with her boring small town life and in particular tired of fending off the misplaced affections of the overly conceited Gaston. She stumbles upon the Beast’s castle and its enchanted characters and offers to give her life for her father’s freedom. In the beginning Belle views him as nothing more than a monster, and he views her as difficult and stubborn. But the two soon discover that change is possible. Will their budding relationship be in time to save the Beast and his companions of being cursed forever?
There will be a brief 20 minute intermission where concessions will be available for purchase in the High School Cafeteria with all proceeds going back into the HFCS Performing Arts through the student run Performing Arts Council group. There will also be a few items up for bid in the lobby via a silent auction.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the show’s Director, Rob Allen, at 686-7321 x1106
