March 29, 2013 By eastwickpress

HFCS Superintendent Ken Facin said the Outdoor Expo at the Armory was a great event. About 1,300 people turned out to see the exhibits and talk with the many exhibitors. Facin was pleased the event attracted more adults this year. Students were bussed to the Armory on Friday. Many returned with family Friday evening and Saturday. This year the Expo had the usual mounts of wild animals, plus a fascinating display of insects.
[private]Fish and Game Clubs, Fur Harvesters, the Conservation Alliance, NYS DEC – they all had exhibits. There were exhibits of fly-tying and fly fishing, 4-H Shooting Sports and displays by the Dyken Pond Environmental Center and Grafton Lakes State Park,

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and so much more. According to the Expo’s mission statement, the Expo is to educate, expose and connect youth with their physical environment through outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, trapping, hiking, canoeing, camping and environmental stewardship. It certainly succeeded and then some.

In the past the Hoosick Falls Outdoor Educational Expo has been at Hoosick Falls Central School. This year HAYC3 gladly agreed to let this year’s organizers use the Perry Room at the Armory for this educational weekend full of displays, lectures, and workshops about the great outdoors!
