Laura I. Masterson

Berlin – Laura I. Greene Masterson, 85, of Plank Road, Berlin, NY, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, MA, surrounded by her loving family.
ob-mastersonBorn December 13, 1927, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Isabelle Hoffman Greene. She was the loving wife of the late Frank A. Masterson, who died on June 11, 1991. They were married on April 30, 1949. She had been a resident of the area since moving from Hicksville, LI, in 1980.
Educated in Brooklyn schools, Laura received her GED with some local friends in 1985. She was the owner/operator of the Country Kitchen in Stephentown, NY, for many years, retiring in 1990. Laura loved bingo and casinos. She bowled in her earlier years. Laura was a member of the Berlin Senior Citizens Club and was also a teacher for the Literacy Volunteers in Berlin.
Survivors include her four sons, Frank J. and wife Ellen Masterson of Hicksville, LI, Dennis E. and wife Joan Masterson of Cherry Plain, NY, Kenneth J. and wife Sandra Masterson of Berlin and Daniel J. Masterson of California, her brother, Hiram Greene, husband of the late Lola Greene, of Hancock, MA, her nine grandchildren and her 14 great-grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by siblings, Jeff Greene and Peggy Balukas.
A Celebration and Remembrance of Laura’s life will take place on Saturday, March 23, at 1 pm in the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY 43, Stephentown. Interment will follow in the Berlin Community Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the funeral home on Saturday starting at 11 am until the start of the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Berlin Volunteer Fire Company in loving memory of Laura I. Masterson.
