The Village of Hoosick Falls Planning Board had only one item on its agenda Wednesday evening, March 6. Wayne Willson and Donald Albrecht of Albrecht & Willson Land Surveyors, PLLC, appeared on behalf of Oak Mitsui looking for a boundary line change to the property it now leases, which adjoins the WCW building on Mechanic Street that Rensselaer County is looking to take over for taxes. Oak Mitsui would like to buy the property, but wants to be sure of an adequate entryway and parking.
[private]There has been a boundary issue with the property for some time which has held up the County taking over the property. The issue of taking over some property by eminent domain, at fair market value, was discussed. Willson and Albrecht see it as a simple subdivision issue. Rensselaer County Attorney Stephen Pechenik, who also attended the meeting, is not so sure. The Village, Willson & Albrecht and Pechenik all had different maps of the same property. The simplest of the maps was that presented by Willson & Albrecht.
Pechenik agreed to review the maps with the County Engineer Wayne Bonesteel and return to the Planning Board on Wednesday, April 10, at 7 pm with, hopefully, a resolution to this issue.
Willson said Oak does not want to purchase the property without all the details being ironed out. They are not opposed to an alternative, but the verbiage must be clear.
The taxes on the property housing Oak Mitsui have always been current. At issue is the WCW property and the boundary lines.[/private]
