Mrs. Phyllis Chapman will be the guest speaker at the April 15 meeting of the Taconic Valley Historical Society. Chapman, a local speaker and historic interpreter, will portray Clara Barton, pioneer teacher, nurse, humanitarian and founder of the American Red Cross. Chapman’s engaging first-person format presentation incorporates period photographs and visuals, artifacts and reproduction period objects and readings from the original writings of the characters and their contemporaries whom she portrays.
Meetings are held at the Methodist Church, South Main Street in Berlin on the third Monday of each month at 7:30 pm. The programs are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
