On Saturday, March 23, the Town of Hoosick Lions Club celebrated its 53rd Annual Penny Hunt in Wood Park. Before the event a portion of the Park had to be cleared of snow.
[private]Many folks turned out to see the Easter Bunny arrive in a bright red fire truck. Delighted area kids greeted this yearly guest and received candy from him before the actual Penny Hunt began. All the children went away with shiny pennies. There is

always one specially marked penny in each age category that brings a prize holiday basket at the conclusion of the hunt. All the children who won their division reside in Hoosick Falls.
For the boys and girls category for ages three and under, the winner was Delana Aubin, age 3. Boys four through six winner was Caden Woodard, age six. Girls four through six winner was Ava Eastman, age six. Boys seven through nine winner was Michael Cornell, age nine, and girls seven through nine winner was Isabella Palino, who is nine years old.
A favorite with the older children is a raw egg toss. This year’s winning team consisted of Sebastian Kaufman, age 10, and Jake O’Connell, age 12. These boys received gift certificates from Pizza Bella, donated by the Lions.
Hundreds of pennies, candy and the Lions Chocolate bunnies given to the winners are donated by the Lions annually for the Hunt. This fun afternoon is an anticipated family event every year. The Town of Hoosick Lions are glad to make this a memory with family photos with the Easter Bunny, good involvement with the community and a reminder to all of the continuous effort our organization makes to serve others with fun events and helping those with needs.

Here’s to many more events with the Lions Club, and we hope to see you at our annual Wood Memorial Road Race on Saturday, May 18, at 9 am and also at our cookout in Wood Park on Memorial Day, May 27. Delicious food in the Park will follow the annual parade honoring our Veterans of all wars. Please clip and save these dates. We’ll see you then!
