Jeremy Burns Goes To NCAA Wrestling Championships

April 5, 2013 By eastwickpress

The Springfield College wrestling team had six student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on March 2 and 3. Tommy Casper, Derek Adams, Joe Grippi, Derrick Longo, Devin Biscaha and Jeremy Burns all represent Springfield College on the national scene.
In the new 18-team format this year, the top three finishers from each weight class earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Championships held March 15-16 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Senior Jeremy Burns, from Hoosick Falls, will be making his first trip to the NCAAs after a strong showing at the Regionals as the third seed. He graduated from Hoosick Falls Central School in 2009 and was a two time New York State Place finisher while wrestling in high school – placing second in New York State in 2009 and third as a Junior. At the NCAA D3 Northeast Regional Championships, Burns placed second in the 197 lb. weight class, losing 3-1 in overtime to the number one ranked wrestler in the country at that weight.
Each wrestler who finished in the top six earned all-region honors as the Springfield College Pride finished with eight honorees.
