Panther Ladies Lacrosse Wins At Home

April 26, 2013 By eastwickpress

by Steve Bradley
The Panther Lacrosse Team traveled to Quinnipiac  University in Hamden, CT, over the past weekend to play Lyman Hall, an out of area opponent. The game ended in a loss, but it added more valuable time in the experience column.
In addition to the game, the Quinnipiac Athletic Department Positive Play Initiative had QU women lacrosse players participate in discussions with the Panther players, promoting the importance of team communication and unity, along with what to expect as a college student-athlete. The Ladies received a tour of the college and stayed over to take in a game between the Quinnipiac Bobcats and St. Francis University on Sunday. Everyone enjoyed the working weekend getaway.
Back on their home turf Tuesday, the Ladies, led by head coach Lisa Ferrannini, took on Cohoes High. The Panthers controlled the game from the beginning, taking a 5-2 halftime lead. After the half, the Ladies kept up the pace, scoring another six goals. The win was the first home game victory in the program’s history. Madison Guglielmoni led the Panther scoring with 4 goals. Jordyn Haynes and Keri Wilkins each added three goals. Kara LaFlamme recorded nine saves.
Over the next week, the Panthers will face Johnstown, Friday, April 26 (A – 7:30); Holy Names, Monday, April 29 (H – 4:15); Emma Willard, Tuesday, April 30 (A – 4:15).
